There are two types of air duct: non-spiral and spiral

Non-spiral consists of flexible plastic over a metal wire coil. It comes in a variety of diameters and configurations. In the U.S. and Australia, the insulation is glass wool, while a protective layer is made of polyethylene or metalized PET. The resulting air duct can be 4″ to 18″ in diameter.

Air Duct Cleaning Denver

Both types of ducts should be kept free of moisture. While most dust will remain where it belongs and be filtered before entering the home, dust in the air duct may be disturbed. This is why it’s important to clean air ducts regularly. To prevent the accumulation of dust, keep the hoses free of any water and debris. This will help keep biological contaminants from growing. For most applications, air-permeable fabric is ideal. It doesn’t build up condensation, and the material doesn’t need to be treated like metal if the air supply is below the dew point. Another advantage of porous fabric is that it tends to require less maintenance, and it can be wiped clean with a soft cloth.

Although some types of ducts don’t have an inherent microbial growth, these ducts should be cleaned and maintained regularly to avoid any problems with microbial growth. Biological contamination can lead to the premature onset of respiratory problems. If you suspect a mold issue, don’t be alarmed. Various techniques have been used to treat mold. However, the most effective method is the one that controls the moisture content in the air duct.

Depending on the application, there are different types of ducts available. The non-porous ducts are often preferred over the porous ones. For applications where the air supply is below the dew point, air-permeable fabric is a good option. It doesn’t usually create any condensation on its surface. The porous duct material is also easier to maintain and does not trap dust and other airborne pollutants.

In some cases, microbial growth can occur in air ducts. Depending on the application, the type of duct is important. If you live in a humid climate, you should consider installing an insulated duct. This is a more expensive option, but it provides a high level of protection against bacteria and fungus. A properly installed and maintained insulated soffit is a must. If you live in a cold climate, you should consider a fabric soffit.

The microbial growth in the air duct is a major problem. Fortunately, there are many methods of eliminating it. It’s possible to use porous ducts in colder climates, but there are many disadvantages to them. For example, they don’t have the same acoustic control as metal soffit. They can be made to resemble wood, which is less environmentally friendly.
